Terms of Service
Last updated 18 October 2026
- It's a game for flats and friends: sleep well, avoid the forfeit.
- Forfeits must be safe, legal and something everyone agreed to. You can always say no.
- Nothing about you goes in the hall of shame without your OK, and you can take it down any time.
- Be decent. No harassment, hate or anything sexual or violent. We remove it and may remove you.
- It's not medical advice, and the web version's alarm can't ring when your phone is locked.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By using Snooze or Lose (the “app”) you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
2. Who can use it
You must be 16 or older. You're responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, because that's how you sign in.
3. How the game works
You join a group, log when you go to bed and wake up, and the group's weekly league ranks everyone. Each week the group may choose a forfeit for whoever finishes last. Tomatoes, streaks, shields, themes and other rewards are just for fun. They have no money value, can't be exchanged, and we may change them.
4. Forfeits must be safe
Forfeits are chosen by your group, not by us. You agree that any forfeit you suggest, vote for or do:
- is legal, safe and doesn't put anyone's health at risk (no dangerous stunts, drinking challenges, driving or anything involving weapons);
- doesn't humiliate, sexualise or target anyone, and doesn't involve people outside the group without their consent;
- is genuinely optional. Anyone can refuse a forfeit without any penalty beyond the game.
We aren't responsible for what groups decide or do. If a forfeit breaks these rules, don't do it, and report it to us.
The hall of shame needs consent
A forfeit can only be posted to your group's hall of shame if the person it's about says yes. You can remove anything about you from the hall of shame at any time, and you can pass on a forfeit without giving a reason. Forfeit votes are anonymous.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post, such as your name, messages, forfeit ideas, photos and videos. You give us a non-exclusive, free licence to store and show it to the people you shared it with, only to run the app. You promise you have the right to share it, including the consent of anyone else who appears in it.
6. Zero tolerance for abuse
You must not use the app to:
- harass, bully, threaten or shame anyone beyond the friendly spirit of the game;
- post hateful, sexual, violent or illegal content, or anything involving a minor;
- share someone's private information or images without their consent;
- spam, impersonate others, or break, overload or reverse-engineer the app.
You can report a person from their profile. We review reports within 24 hours, remove content that breaks these rules, and may suspend or ban the account responsible.
7. Health and the alarm
Snooze or Lose is not a medical device and doesn't give medical advice. If you're worried about your sleep, talk to a doctor. Don't rely on the app for important wake-ups: the web version can't ring while your phone is locked, and phones can mute, update or run out of battery. Wake-up challenges involve movement; only do the ones that are safe for you and your space.
8. Ads and extras
Some optional extras may be unlocked by watching a short ad or by sleeping well. We'll never make the core game depend on ads.
9. Ending your account
You can stop using the app and ask us to delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, with notice where reasonable.
10. The service
We provide the app “as is” and may change, pause or stop features. We'll try to give notice of big changes. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under UK law, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect losses or for losses caused by other users or groups.
11. If you got the app from Apple's App Store
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app, its content, maintenance, support or any claims about it. Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Where it conflicts with these terms, these terms win, except where Apple's terms say otherwise. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
12. Changes and law
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use the app means you accept it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring claims in your local courts.
